Linda Embonga, born in 1978 in Kinshasa, lives in Schaerbeek, has Congolese roots and works as a coordinator at Infor Jeunes. She came to Brussels because she married a Belgian man. The beginning was difficult because even though she studied in Congo, she had to retake her degree. Brussels is easy for her because of French, it is multicultural, but she has also experienced institutional racism. It is a city of contrasts: hope and disappointment, distance and closeness, confrontation and connection. Her questions to the future are about living together in real diversity.
Linda Embonga, née en 1978 à Kinshasa, vit à Schaerbeek, a des racines congolaises et travaille comme coordinatrice chez Infor Jeunes. Elle est venue à Bruxelles parce qu'elle a épousé un Belge. Les débuts ont été difficiles car, bien qu'elle ait étudié au Congo, elle a dû repasser son diplôme. Bruxelles est facile pour elle parce qu'elle est francophone, multiculturelle, mais elle a aussi été confrontée au racisme institutionnel. C'est une ville de contrastes : espoir et déception, distance et proximité, confrontation et connexion. Les questions qu'elle se pose pour l'avenir concernent le fait de vivre ensemble dans une réelle diversité.

Het begin was moeilijk want ook al studeerde ze in Congo, ze moest haar diploma opnieuw halen. Brussel is voor haar makkelijk om wille van het Frans, het is multicultureel, maar ze heeft ook institutioneel racisme ervaren. Het is een stad van contrasten: hoop en teleurstelling, afstand en nabijheid, confrontatie en verbinding. Haar vragen aan de toekomst gaan over samenleven in échte diversiteit.
