What are the takeaways: 

For the Heritage Conversation on Ninoof Gate, we conducted individual interviews with Bea Souleymane (age 19, from Guinea), Igor Vicente (age 27, from Brazil), Reinhard (age 23, from Aalst), and Bilel Fayyad (age 36, from Morocco). Some have known the neighborhood for 15 years, while others have only known the neighborhood for 2 years. 

They talk about the evolution they see of Ninoof's Gate, including urban and demographic changes and the rise of associations. They appreciate the friendliness of the residents and express a deep love for the diversity and vibrancy of the place and of Brussels. 

They also discuss various challenges such as traffic, gentrification, the lack of organic food facilities in the neighborhood and the few employment opportunities, the stigmatization of working-class neighborhoods like this one, and the importance of justice and mutual respect. They see addressing safety challenges and supporting the homeless as a priority to address.

Pour la conversation sur le patrimoine de la porte de Ninove, nous avons mené des entretiens individuels avec Bea Souleymane (19 ans, originaire de Guinée), Igor Vicente (27 ans, originaire du Brésil), Reinhard (23 ans, originaire d'Alost) et Bilel fayyad (36 ans, originaire du Maroc). Certain·e·s connaissent le quartier depuis 15 ans, d'autres depuis 2 ans seulement. 

Ils parlent de l'évolution qu'ils constatent à la Porte de Ninove, notamment des changements urbains et démographiques et de l’augmentation des associations. 

Ils apprécient la convivialité des habitant·e·s et expriment un amour profond pour la diversité et le dynamisme du quartier et de Bruxelles. Mais ils discutent également de divers défis tels que la circulation, la gentrification, le manque de magasins d'alimentation biologique dans le quartier et le peu d'opportunités d'emploi, la stigmatisation des quartiers populaires comme celui-ci, et l'importance de la justice et du respect mutuel. Ils considèrent qu'il est prioritaire de s'attaquer aux problèmes de sécurité et de soutenir les sans-abris.

Voor de Heritage Conversation over de Ninoofsepoort hebben we individuele interviews afgenomen met Bea (19 jaar, uit Guinee), Igor (27 jaar, uit Brazilië), Reinhard (23 jaar, uit Aalst), en Bilel (36 jaar, uit Marokko). 

Sommigen zijn al 15 jaar lang vertrouwd met de buurt, terwijl anderen de buurt pas 2 jaar geleden hebben leren kennen. Ze vertellen  over de evolutie van de Ninoofsepoort die zij hebben meegemaakt, inclusief de stedelijke en demografische veranderingen en de opkomst van verenigingen. Ze waarderen de vriendelijkheid van de bewoners en uiten een diepe liefde voor de diversiteit en levendigheid van de plek en van Brussel. Maar ze bespreken ook verschillende uitdagingen zoals het verkeer, de gentrificatie, het gebrek aan biologische voedselvoorzieningen in de buurt en het tekort aan werkgelegenheid, de stigmatisering van volkswijken als deze, en het belang van rechtvaardigheid en wederzijds respect. De aanpak van de veiligheidsuitdagingen en de ondersteuning van daklozen zien ze als een prioriteit om aan te pakken.
